The Full Moon on February 12, 2025: Regulus & the Behenian Stars
Full Moons always bring out the wild side; the fevered pitch. First responders and therapists for sure feel the surge. And emergency rooms are busier than normal. But this month's Full Moon is special.
This Full Moon takes place on February 12th, 2025, at 5:54 AM Pacific.
It’s important to understand that Full Moons aren’t “the end of the story” as it were. Though oftentimes the energy can present as a culmination of sorts. One big burst or an outpouring of energy. But it’s more so been my experience that Full Moons bring illumination to an idea, a feeling, a way of being that has the kinetic potential of manifesting significant change later on down the road. That is to say, a Full Moon more often than not acts as the catalyst for change, rather than signifying THE change itself.
Keep that in mind as we continue here. Because this Full Moon is going to pack a punch.
The Astrological Energy of This Full Moon
As stated above, the Full Moon represents a moment of culmination, illumination, and release in the lunar cycle. It brings heightened emotions, clarity, and an opportunity to assess how past actions have shaped the present. As the Moon reaches her peak brightness, she reveals truths that were previously hidden, offering both insight and and opportunity for resolution. This phase is often associated with completion of cycles, revelations, and heightened intuition, making it an opportune time for self-reflection, manifestation, and transformation.
However, not all Full Moons carry the same weight. This particular lunation is uniquely powerful due to its exact placement in the last minutes of Cancer, a critical zone that marks the end of a sign's journey and the threshold of a new expression. The last degree of a water sign is significant, as it defines the gandanta zone, a karmic transition point (karmic knot) between water and fire signs, intensifying emotional turbulence and spiritual shifts. What needs to be let go of, or die within you, before you can step into the next phase of your being?
This Full Moon, already carrying the weight of karmic endings and new beginnings, gains even greater significance through its imminent conjunction a few hours later with the fixed star Regulus (~5° Leo), one of the most potent Behenian stars in astrology. Regulus, known as the Heart of the Lion, marks a cosmic moment of leadership tests, karmic reckoning, and the amplification of destiny-driven forces, elevating this Full Moon far beyond the ordinary.
Regulus & the Behenian Stars
The conjunction of the Full Moon with Regulus magnifies themes of sovereignty, power, and honor, drawing attention to how leadership is wielded—both on a personal level and in the broader sociopolitical landscape. Regulus imparts great success to those who act with integrity, courage, and wisdom, yet it equally warns of downfall for those driven by arrogance or selfish ambition. The Full Moon’s illumination of this star’s energy serves as a moment of divine revelation, where the consequences of past leadership—whether individual or collective—become undeniable.
We reap what we sow. How will the Universe assess our past actions in regards to leadership, or the wielding of power? Are we granted more opportunities and even greater platforms from which to assert our leadership? Or will those opportunities evaporate?
This conjunction also gives us an opportunity to explore - using Regulus as an example - the Behenian fixed stars of astrology.
Regulus, often referred to as the Heart of the Lion, is one of the Behenian Stars, a select group of 15 fixed stars that ancient astrologers and Hermetic scholars recognized as powerful cosmic lenses. Unlike planets, which move in cycles and exert direct influence on earthly matters over time, fixed stars serve as timeless archetypal forces, influencing long-term destiny and deeper metaphysical currents. In the Hermetic tradition, these stars were not viewed as passive celestial bodies but rather as portals through which planetary forces are magnified, refined, and intensified. In a sense, they form the scaffolding of Truth upholding the Universe.
Imagine a grand celestial clock where the planets are the hands, constantly moving, marking the passage of time and shaping immediate events. They dictate the rhythm of daily life, influencing short-term cycles and bringing periodic shifts, much like the ticking seconds, minutes, and hours.
Now, the fixed stars are like the numbers on the clock face—they do not move, yet they provide the fundamental structure and reference points that give meaning to the movement of the hands. These stars act as timeless anchors, shaping the overarching themes and archetypal patterns that govern reality.
In the Hermetic view, fixed stars are not just passive markers but portals—we can imagine them as well as being the gears and mechanisms operating behind the clock face that interact with the moving hands (planets). When a planetary hand aligns with a specific number (a fixed star), it triggers a deeper activation of that star’s energy, much like a chime sounding at the hour, signaling an important moment in the greater cosmic rhythm.
That said, a conjunction between a planet and a Behenian star is far more than an ordinary alignment. When a planet meets one of these fixed stars, its energy is infused with the deeper cosmic intelligence of that star, creating a moment of profound potential. The planet acts as an activator or an accelerator, unlocking the star’s latent power and directing it toward earthly manifestation. This is particularly significant when a luminary—such as the Sun or the Moon—engages with a Behenian star, as it amplifies the star’s essence and makes its influence deeply felt in human affairs.
Regulus carries a Mars-Jupiter signature, meaning it embodies both courage and expansion, ambition and wisdom, conquest and sovereignty. When the Moon, in her fullness, aligns with Regulus, this celestial moment marks an inflection point in themes of power, honor, and leadership. The lunar illumination reveals who is worthy of their crown and who will face a reckoning for past misdeeds. It is a cosmic test of integrity versus ego, righteous rule versus tyranny.
This Full Moon is an ideal time to begin exploring the Behenian stars as gateways to higher cosmic wisdom, recognizing their role in shaping historical patterns and personal transformation. Just as Regulus has been tied to the fates of kings and empires, so too do the other Behenian stars act as celestial guides for those seeking deeper alignment with cosmic forces. This is not just about prediction—it is about understanding how fixed stars serve as celestial markers of destiny, offering those who recognize them an opportunity to work in harmony with higher cycles of fate.
How this alignment will affect you is totally dependent, of course, on your own birth chart. However, we are all influenced by the collective of which we are a part and, as such, we can glean quite a bit of information by assessing the chart of the nation in which we live.
As I'm in the US, my “astro weather” lens is US chart. So let’s unpack this transit, part by part. And see if we can find any historical precedent.
As we tease these out remember that these potential outcomes may manifest in the moment, OR they may be the result of an initiatory energy unleashed at this moment.
Full Moon in the U.S. 8th House (29° Cancer)
Themes: Power, Economic Shifts, Transformation
The 8th house in mundane astrology governs national debt, economic restructuring, hidden power structures, taxation, and collective psychological shifts.
A Full Moon here signals a culmination or revelation tied to these themes. Expect heightened public discourse (and flashes of outrage) on financial policies, taxation, banking instability, and power struggles involving economic elites.
The 29° Cancer placement (Gandanta degree) intensifies the sense of karmic reckoning, requiring the nation to confront deep-seated fears and unresolved economic burdens before moving forward.
Manifestations:
A major (and likely shocking - T-square with transit Uranus) economic policy shift (debt ceiling crisis, taxation reform, government shutdown risks, extreme market volatility).
Scandals or revelations related to financial institutions, banking elites, or secret dealings in corporate/government power.
Public reaction to resource allocation—social programs, military spending, or tax burdens will become hotly contested issues.
Full Moon Conjunct Regulus: Leadership Under the Spotlight
Themes: Power, Sovereignty, Success vs. Downfall
Regulus (~5° Leo) carries a Mars-Jupiter energy—bold leadership, ambition, and expansion but also the risk of dramatic falls from grace if integrity is lacking.
This conjunction tests the strength of national leadership—both in government and other key institutions.
Manifestations:
A major reckoning for U.S. leadership—potential resignations, scandals, or seismic shifts in political dynamics.
If leaders act with integrity, this can mark a new era of authority and trust.
If ego, corruption, or deception dominate, this Full Moon could be the triggering event that leads to a leader’s fall later in 2025. In the case of the US, we’ll have a mixed bag. One thing you can count on is an unprecedented “sorting out” period. Some will rise, and a great many more will be unceremoniously stripped of power and leadership opportunity.
Transit Moon Inconjunct U.S. Natal Pluto (2nd House Cusp)
Themes: Economic Power Struggles, Financial Manipulation
Natal Pluto at 6° Capricorn (U.S. 2nd house) represents wealth concentration, hidden financial power, and economic transformation.
The inconjunct aspect (150°) creates tension between public sentiment (Moon) and financial control mechanisms (Pluto).
This misalignment suggests a crescendo of public dissatisfaction with economic elites, market volatility, or major shifts in U.S. monetary policy.
Manifestations:
Stock market turbulence—sharp corrections, currency valuation issues, or economic policy shifts.
Public outrage over financial secrecy—banking policies, government bailouts, or corporate loopholes exposed.
Power struggles between government and financial institutions—who controls economic stability?
Transit Full Moon in Opposition to the U.S. Natal Moon (3rd House Cusp)
Themes: Media, Public Perception, National Mood Shift
The U.S. natal Moon (7° Aquarius, cusp of the 3rd house) represents public sentiment, mass communication, and the role of media in shaping national consciousness.
The opposition between the Full Moon / Regulus conjunction (5° Leo) and the U.S. Natal Moon highlights a national tension between centralized leadership (Leo) and public discourse (Aquarius). This signals a battle between elite decision-making and grassroots sentiment, particularly in the media landscape (3rd house). A reckoning moment for truth vs. propaganda—national conversations around who gets to lead, who is heard, and whose version of reality dominates.
Expect heightened media focus, emotional public reactions, and an intensified battle over “truth” and “misinformation.”
Manifestations:
A wave of public sentiment clashing with official narratives—increased scrutiny of mainstream and alternative media. Who is trusted to be an unbiased purveyor of truth?
Major revelation leaks—hidden documents, whistleblowers, or classified intelligence leaks will surface. Wiki Leaks is going to get very busy.
Final Thoughts: A Cosmic Inflection Point
This Full Moon initiates a ticking clock for U.S. leadership, economic stability, and national perception. With its 8th house placement, conjunction to Regulus, and tense aspects to Pluto and the U.S. Natal Moon, this lunation has powerful transformative potential.
Key Takeaways:
A major financial shift and/or crisis could emerge, exposing hidden economic structures.
Media narratives will be highly polarized, with new revelations shaping national perception.
A test of leadership integrity is at hand—those in power who act with wisdom and responsibility will thrive, while those who lead with arrogance or deception will face downfall. This will be, quite literally, a sorting out by reckoning.
The Big Question: Will the U.S. navigate this Full Moon with wisdom and honor, or will it succumb to power struggles, manipulation, and tar-and-feathering? The fuse is lit; the cosmic stage is set for some historic happenings.
And the question for you is this: can you - will you - be able to hold center in the midst of the coming chaos? Because the truth is, Truth can only be ascertained from a position of centeredness. To be uncentered is to be easily swayed by false and energetically charged narratives.
