Listen to this post:
I describe astrology as the art and science of navigation—both an ancient map and a modern compass, guiding us through the dynamic and cyclical forces of time and space.
To navigate effectively, the astrologer must be attuned not only to the terrain of the terrestrial, but also to the shifting weather patterns of celestial movements. They must understand the intended direction of the soul’s journey and the properties of the vessel that carries us—our very existence. As someone who has spent over 25 years “charting the skies” with astrology’s timeless sextant, I see the planetary alignments of 2025’s Spring Equinox as a pivotal moment—one akin to the sailor's proverbial saying: “red sky in the morning, sailor take warning.”
The Spring Equinox will take place this March 20th, 2025 at 4:01 A.M. CDT at 5 Pisces 47. Equinoxes and solstices are always important, but this particular Spring Equinox is critically so, as:
(1) it falls within the 80-year window defined by the Winter Solstice aligning to the galactic center, AKA the “navel of the Universe,” (see this post), and
(2) because of the intense unfolding of alignments we’ll begin to cover in this post.
The Yuga Cycle
The Yuga Cycle, as described in ancient Indian cosmology, serves as a grand timeline of human consciousness, divided into four distinct ages or epochs: Satya Yuga (the Age of Truth), Treta Yuga (the Age of Rituals), Dvapara Yuga (the Age of Duality), and Kali Yuga (the Age of Darkness). Each Yuga corresponds to a gradual decline - or upswing, depending on the phase - in virtue, wisdom, and spiritual alignment. Much like the descending or ascending seasons of a year.
Each Yuga then represents a unique phase in the evolution of human consciousness and societal structures, making the full cycle an intricate dance of rise and fall, darkness and light.
The ascending Kali Yuga—of which we are currently in—is characterized as a period of moral degradation, materialism, and spiritual disconnection. A time when humanity is furthest removed from the higher truths and cosmic order. Yet, paradoxically, it is also an age ripe for transformation, as the pressures of darkness compel the pursuit of light. The Kali Yuga is not eternal but a necessary sub-cycle of the grand cycles of creation and destruction.. And its end—same as the beginning and end of all cycles—is encoded within the fabric of astronomical alignments (see this post for more on that).
I’ll dive much deeper into this in future articles. But for now, just know that this Spring Equinox of 2025 marks a critical juncture in human consciousness, signifying the conclusion of the Kali Yuga and the 1,200 year transition into the dawn of a new age. A marker of the final shift away from the darkness of Kali Yuga, catalyzing the gradual return toward higher states of consciousness and cosmic order.
That transition won’t be easy for everyone. Nor will it be easy for humanity as a whole. And it’s not the type of transition you can prepare for in the “prepper” sense of the term. I’m all for (and advise my clients) to be as prepared mentally and materially as practicable. That’s just common sense. Especially so when the astrological weather is building. The kind of “prepping” required here, though, is of the spiritual kind.
To be sure, this is a global shift in consciousness. However, we have to start somewhere in assessing how the collective will react and respond to these energy patterns. Since I’m US-based, my collective assessments are viewed through the lens of the US chart.
That said, let’s have a look at the US chart and assess a few of the key alignments forming this spring.
The chart above is for the United States. The green glyphs note the transit placements on the day of the Spring Equinox.
What I offer below is a very high level overview. We get much deeper into the alignments and resultant predictions in the Functional Astrology group, here.
Key Alignments and Energy in Pisces
The celestial alignments during the Spring Equinox of 2025 in Pisces carry profound spiritual and transformative implications. Pisces, the final sign of the zodiac, governs themes of transcendence, unity, and dissolution, providing the perfect backdrop for a collective shift. With several key planetary conjunctions in this sign, the energy invites a deep reflection on humanity’s spiritual journey, offering opportunities for healing, introspection, and recalibration.
The question is, will the collective seize those opportunities? Or, out of fear, remain mired in the delusional status quo?
Sun, Neptune, and Rahu Conjunction (5°47', 5°24', and 3°10' Pisces, respectively)
The conjunction of the Sun, Neptune, and the North Node (Rahu) in Pisces serves as a beacon for collective spiritual evolution. Neptune’s position in his home sign of Pisces intensifies his themes of mysticism, unity consciousness, and dissolving ego-bound boundaries. This is a time to let go of illusions and embrace the interconnectedness of all things.
This conjunction will serve to wake up a portion of the collective, while the majority are put further into trance. As always, freewill and sovereignty prevail—however, you have to take it. And taking it requires acceptance of the all. No light without the dark; no Messiah without the serpent.
The addition of Rahu, the karmic North Node, infuses this alignment with a sense of destiny. Rahu in Pisces emphasizes lessons tied to intuition, universal oneness, and the dissolution of old paradigms. It echoes the larger narrative of the Kali Yuga’s end—a call to turn away from division and material excess, instead moving toward spiritual integration and higher consciousness.
What is being asked here is for the collective to adopt the position of the "warrior in the garden" vs maintaining the delusion of that garden being protected by some "out there" savior. Be that savior "the government", “ascension” or whomever or whatever we are prone to give our sovereignty to.
As spring progresses into summer, Saturn enters the mix, applying a conjunction to both Rahu and Neptune in Pisces. Known as the "Great Taskmaster," Saturn brings structure, discipline, and the weight of reality to the transcendent and boundary-dissolving energies of Neptune. This sobering influence can act as a grounding force, helping to translate the spiritual and mystical visions of Neptune into practical, tangible forms. Saturn’s alignment with Rahu reinforces karmic accountability, urging the collective to take responsibility for the collective's path forward. While Neptune invites us to dream and dissolve illusions, Saturn ensures that we don’t lose ourselves in abstraction, demanding that the spiritual insights gained during this period be anchored into practical action and sustainable systems. Together, these energies create a delicate balance between vision and reality, offering an opportunity to redefine collective structures in alignment with higher ideals.
The bottom line here is that we as a collective will be given opportunities to “wake up” and “sober up” given obvious examples of the US or other outside forces playing the manipulative Oz behind the screen. Will we as a collective turn and look the other way, or demand change?
These times bear a striking resemblance to Hans Christian Andersen’s tale of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Just as in the story, the masses are complicit in perpetuating illusions, afraid to call out the obvious truths for fear of standing apart. Yet, all it takes is one courageous voice to shatter the collective trance and reveal the deception. The question is, who among us will be brave enough to point out the emperor’s nakedness? And will the rest of the collective listen, or stubbornly cling to the illusion to avoid the discomfort of change?
Neptune Opposition to the United States
Adding another layer to this moment, the United States is currently undergoing a Neptune opposition—a transit that last occurred during the Civil War. This alignment reflects a period of pronounced collective questioning about identity, beliefs, and the soul of the nation. Just as the Civil War marked a time of fragmentation and eventual rebirth, this opposition mirrors themes of dissolving outdated structures and seeking a higher, unified vision for the future.
Mercury and Venus Retrograde Conjunction (13°40' and 10°06' Pisces)
The conjunction of retrograde Mercury and retrograde Venus in Pisces further emphasizes the need for collective introspection. Mercury retrograde in Pisces urges humanity to reflect on its beliefs, communication patterns, and spiritual paradigms. This is a time to slow down, revisit the past, and assess the lessons learned before forging a new path.
Venus, exalted in Pisces and also in retrograde, brings an emotional and relational layer to this period of re-evaluation. It invites us to reconsider our values, our relationships, and how we connect with the divine and with one another. Venus in Pisces represents unconditional love, higher compassion, and artistic inspiration. Its retrograde motion suggests a return to the core of what truly matters, encouraging us to heal wounds in both personal and collective relationships.
The rift comes down to this: a majority will, out of fear, cling to the old Kabuki theater of the status quo. To the falsehoods cranked out by Oz’s behind-the-screen (Neptune) propaganda machine. No matter what hard truths are laid in their laps (Saturn). Oz demands, “are you gonna believe me, or your lyin’ eyes”?
Will this result in a live-fire Civil War? I don’t think so. But I do think the psychological attrition will far exceed the capacity of an already broken-beyond-repair medical-industrial complex. Which is why we, through Functional Astrology and Holomorphic Therapy, do the work that we do.
To add insult to injury, we also have transit Chiron moving through 27°25' Pisces, forming a conjunction with its natal position at 29°24' Pisces. The drive for collective healing becomes deeply pronounced with this alignment. Chiron, the "Wounded Healer," carries the archetype of transformation through vulnerability. In Pisces, its influence points to profound wounds tied to feelings of separation, fear, and spiritual disconnection—wounds that echo across the generations. This conjunction marks a critical opportunity to revisit collective pain, not as a source of despair, but as a doorway to redemption and wholeness. It invites humanity to acknowledge the fractures that have kept it divided, particularly in spiritual and emotional realms, and to use this awareness as a catalyst for unity and healing.
The key here is to actually “heal,” as opposed to wallow in victimhood. Because Chiron in Pisces is apt to linger, spin, and self-flagellate in perpetuity.
Natal Chiron’s placement at the 29th degree Pisces—referred to as the "karmic knot"—amplifies the significance of this moment. The analogy here is the immense amount of energy released when water first flashes to steam. Positioned in the U.S.’s 4th house, it reflects the deeply rooted, ancestral, and foundational wounds of the nation. Wounds tied to its collective identity, its history of division, and its spiritual disconnection. The 4th house governs home, roots, and the nation’s soul, and this alignment demands deep introspection and healing of the very fabric of its foundation. Chiron at the karmic knot speaks to the untangling of past karmic patterns, presenting an opportunity for resolution and transcendence.
In 1787, as the Constitutional Convention concluded, Ben Franklin, then one of the oldest and most respected delegates present, was reportedly approached by a woman outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia. She asked him, “Well, Doctor, what have we got? A republic or a monarchy?” Franklin responded with the now-famous words: “A republic, madam. If you can keep it.”
Chiron offers the same in regards to healing. Healing is a sovereign act. And one cannot be truly healed while clinging to victimhood. The same applies to the collective.
In the broader context of the Yuga cycle shift, this alignment signals a pivotal moment of spiritual recalibration. Chiron in Pisces encourages a reawakening of the innate connection to the divine within, dissolving the illusion of separation that has defined much of the Kali Yuga. It asks us to lean into the discomfort of our wounds, both individually and collectively, recognizing them as essential teachers on the path to higher consciousness. This period offers the potential for profound breakthroughs, as humanity is guided to transmute pain into compassion and limitation into transcendent wisdom… if you can keep it.
May you live in interesting times…
There is more, of course. A hell of a lot more.
From an astrological perspective—and especially so as that perspective is viewed through the lens of the US chart—it’s an immense and ever-building storm. As one who has studied this art for over 25 years, I find myself profoundly grateful to be alive at this time in history to both witness and experience this absolutely massive convergence of astrological energy.
The nation is still experiencing her Pluto return—punctuated by a Mars opposition that will be in full swing (again) this spring—Uranus (again) applying conjunct Algol and well… the list goes on and on.
And I haven’t yet—as it’s the subject of another article—touched on the March 29th, 2025 solar eclipse at 14 Pisces 47. Just as Saturn ingresses into Pisces to add more whoosh to this Piscean, 4th house tidal wave.
Where to From Here?
We are standing at the precipice of an unparalleled turning point. The astrological weather ahead doesn’t call for mere passive observation—it demands action, sovereignty, and the courage to face uncomfortable truths. The end of the Kali Yuga is not a neat and tidy conclusion but a reckoning, a spiritual trial by fire that will expose the illusions we’ve clung to, as individuals and as a collective. For those willing to embrace the storm, to take responsibility for their healing and rise above the noise of fear and propaganda, there lies the promise of transformation. But for those who cling to the old theater of lies, the path forward will only bring further fragmentation.
Astrology isn’t a script—it’s a map. And if the map is screaming anything, it’s this: wake up, grow up, and own the responsibility of navigating this time. We are living in the defining chapter of our collective story. Whether you find that exhilarating or terrifying depends entirely on the choices you make now. The age of illusions is fast crumbling.
The age of sovereignty is waiting. If you can keep it.
