Rahu, Neptune & Venus in Pisces: America’s Moment of Reckoning
AstroGnosis || Functional Astrology
There is a lot to unravel with this alignment. So before we dive into the nitty-gritty, here’s the bird’s eye overview:
Venus, Neptune, and Rahu (the Moon’s North Node) will conjoin in early Pisces the first week of February. This alignment is punctuated by the waxing crescent Moon’s joining the 3-way conjunction on the evening of February 1st.
Neptune and Rahu will remain in close conjunction until well beyond the Solar and Lunar eclipses of March. On a personal level, this alignment can indicate exaggerated and impractical spending and/or overindulgence. On the upside, this alignment can signal the birth of an unprecedented new initiative. Something so radically new it seems like the stuff of sci-fi. Only those who allow themselves to dream crazy big dreams - and actually move to implement them - are the ones who change the world.
This alignment is the opening salvo of a massive amount of Piscean energy that will be unleashed with the eclipse season this Spring.
If you thought the last eclipse cycle was a wild ride, well… that was simply a warm-up act for this Spring.
The chart below is for the March 29th Solar eclipse, and indicates seismic geopolitical changes (at home and abroad) coupled with natural and man-initiated disasters (such as the North Carolina mega storm and the LA fires). “Bridges, boats and borders” - both literal and figurative - will be rocked. Ideological battles will escalate into tsunamis-like (Piscean) waves of fanaticism.
I’ll consider this alignment in greater depth via the lens of the US. But the bottom line of this aspect personally is:
On the upside: an emphasis on love/romance, imagination, creativity, intuitive “knowing”, alternative healing, and spirituality. There is an influx of inspiring, fortunate energy.
On the downside, this alignment can indicate self-undoing/sabotage, irrational tailspins, manipulation and malfeasance, delusion, negligence, addiction, and crime (perpetrator and victim thereof).
Of course the exact manner in which these energies play out are dependent upon one’s unique birth chart. If you’re interested in that, simply book a consultation, or join the Functional Astrology community.
Now, let’s tease out this alignment using the lens of the US chart.
As we quickly approach the upcoming eclipse season, the cosmic stage is set for significant revelations, transformations, and karmic reckonings—both personal and collective. This eclipse season, featuring a Lunar Eclipse in the twilight minutes of Cancer - in the extremely powerful gandanta degree - and a Solar Eclipse at 14° Pisces 48’, amplifies the energy of the Venus-Neptune-Rahu conjunction in Pisces.
This powerful, 3-way conjunction is just the first piece of a much larger stellium forming in Pisces this Spring. To make it digestible, I’ll cover each major aspect separately in subsequent articles.
As we are all part of the collective within which we reside, the energy of the collective must be thoroughly understood before we can ever hope to make sense of how the stars are affecting us personally. As a resident of the Pacific Northwest, my consciousness is intertwined with the collective consciousness shaped by the United States. Consequently, my transit analyses always incorporate an environmental perspective—assessing the 'state of the union' of the collective before interpreting personal impacts.
And knowing what energies are present in the collective makes it much easier to predict the collective's next moves. And to profit from them. For instance, while I (may not) be able to reliably predict what specific crypto currencies will outperform another (though I have had my moments), I can say that the nation's financial underpinnings are being seismically shaken. That means the stock market and fiat currency as we know it today will be fossilized relics in the near future. My actions and investments therefore follow suit.
That said, while my focus here is on the US, these same forces are applying to each individual psychology depending, of course, on the nature of that individual's birth chart. Just how this is done is covered in the Functional Astrology community. And, of course, it's baked into my personal client work.
So with that, let's begin to tease apart this perfect storm stellium that's currently forming in Pisces.
The Collective Reckoning: Venus, Neptune, and Rahu Opposing Natal Neptune
I've said as much in my previous run of astrological articles, but it merits repeating here: the United States is at an extremely critical crossroads. Our focus here will be on transit Venus conjoining both transit Neptune and transit Rahu in Pisces (US 3rd house), directly opposing the nation’s natal Neptune in Virgo (9th house). This alignment however, simply initiates and underscores an accelerating tension between what is (and is not) communicated and ideology. National narratives, and foreign policy—an overarching theme that - along with extreme financial chaos - will define 2025.
For context, the last time the U.S. experienced a Neptune opposition was during the Civil War era. While this current transit does not suggest an armed conflict per se, it does point to an 'economic civil war.' This aligns with the country’s ongoing Pluto return in the second house (see this post).
What does an 'economic civil war' look like? Consider Trump’s recent statement about withholding federal aid from fire-ravaged California unless certain conditions were met. This kind of direct economic "warfare" will become a defining feature of the coming years. This will manifest as a top-down force (government & corporations vs the populace) and a bottom-up force - tax revolts (a New Age Boston Tea Party) and large scale adoption of alternative (and increasingly untraceable) currency options.
It also means that there will be a "revolt" against privacy invasions and data mining. Big Brother and Corporate spying on the citizenry will be retaliated against both directly (via an onslaught of new privacy [Neptune] devices that thwart such invasions), and economically - boycotts against offending corporations and potentially, a mass refusal to pay taxes until sweeping government reforms are enacted.
This is heady stuff, yes - AND it's the waters (Pisces) we are, as a collective, currently navigating. “Sink or sail” are the only two options given. There is no middle ground in this dynamic.
Mysticism and Media: Transit Venus, Neptune, and Rahu in the 3rd House
In astrology, the house in which an alignment falls determines the 'stage' where its energies will play out. For the U.S., 2025’s themes will center on issues of the third, fourth, and ninth houses:
Third House: Media, communication, propaganda, misinformation, education policies, infrastructure, and regional governance. Expect intensified debates over censorship, journalistic integrity, and the role of technology in shaping public discourse. Failures of a crumbling infrastructure will be highlighted.
Fourth House: National security, housing, land, food security, and cultural identity. There will be heightened concerns over economic instability, domestic policy shifts, and the restructuring of foundational societal elements.
Ninth House: Higher education, law, foreign policy, religion, and philosophical beliefs. The nation will grapple with ideological clashes, shifts in international alliances, and the re-evaluation of institutional credibility.
A brief note on transit Rahu, as it seems to me to be completely misunderstood in Western astrology. In transit, Rahu represents the collective’s current focus, karmic lessons, and opportunities for growth. It operates like a hybrid of Mars and Uranus—strategic yet chaotic, craving transformation without fully considering the cost. Rahu is about experiences required for growth, regardless of moral or cultural judgements, implications or expectations. This is, in part, why Rahu can be so utterly shocking. Rahu’s influence intensifies the house and sign it occupies, making its energy urgent and immediate.
There is more to Rahu, of course. Much more. But that very brief overview will suffice for this article.
The nation’s Neptune opposition plays out across its third (transit Neptune-Venus-Rahu) and ninth (natal Neptune) house axis. As we've seen, the third house governs:
Communication, media, propaganda, and misinformation
Primary and secondary education systems
National infrastructure (roads, power grids, transportation networks)
Regional governance and state-federal dynamics
Here, exalted Venus in Pisces joins Neptune (ruling Pisces)—the planet of dreams, illusions, delusions and deception—alongside chaotic, destabilizing and forceful Rahu. This alignment casts an enchanting but intentionally deceptive fog over the nation’s communication channels. The veil is thin, and so is the potential for widespread manipulation. Or misinterpretation. If you don’t see something with your own eyes, remain skeptical.
And even if you DO see it with your own eyes, understand that skilled sleight-of-hand is at play. We are collectively in the energy of the street hustler's 3-card-Monte spell. The only antidote to this is to seek Truth at all cost. To allow for anything less to willingly buy into deceit.
Venus and Neptune in Pisces suggest an influx of artistic, romanticized, or utterly delusional narratives dominating public discourse. Rahu amplifies this energy, fueling sensationalism, escapism, and propaganda. The shadow side? Facts blur into fantasy, and truth becomes increasingly difficult to discern.
Infrastructure projects and regional agreements will face significant delays (due to political grandstanding and forces of nature), as impractical ambitions clash with real-world constraints. Rahu’s influence intensifies these stakes, making this a defining moment for America’s relationship with truth and deception in its media landscape. Note: as Saturn moves into this alignment this Spring, those harsh realities will come crashing in on the delusional parade currently underway. Subject of a future article.
Trump's election and actions to date are simply a foreshadowing of this Saturian (disciplinarian, unapologetic) energy. And, he's just a man. Albeit in a powerful position (hence the foreshadowing). Yet, the energies I'm discussing here are cosmic, eclipsing the actions of any one man.
Facing Reality: The Nation’s Crumbling Infrastructure
The U.S. can no longer ignore its deteriorating infrastructure, and this alignment will put the spotlight on that. While there will be an intensified drive to sweep these issues under the rug (Neptune), Rahu, and transit Saturn - which I'll cover in depth in a future article - will force the nation to confront an unavoidable failure; a failure that will demand immediate attention. Another major natural disaster followed by another FEMA failure is not unlikely. Or a massive and prolonged grid-down scenario.
If you lost all power and water for 2 weeks, could you and your family get by? This type of strategic thinking and planing is in order now.
The Ideological Clash: Opposition to Natal Neptune in the 9th House
Natal Neptune in the ninth house governs:
Higher education and philosophical frameworks
Foreign policy and diplomatic relations
The nation’s overarching moral and ideological compass
The legal system
In Virgo, Neptune’s idealistic, dreamy mysticism is tempered by stern pragmatism. The current Venus-Neptune-Rahu opposition to natal Neptune creates a tug-of-war between immediate media narratives (3rd house) and long-term philosophies (9th house).
This alignment raises critical questions:
How does the nation balance sensationalist media with pragmatic diplomacy?
How do local concerns align—or clash—with broader global commitments?
Will misinformation in domestic media undermine the nation’s foreign policy credibility?
Who does the public trust if the legal system, media and foreign relations can not be trusted to keep the citizenry well informed and a top priority?
This moment presents a critical reckoning between perception and reality, where romanticized or distorted messaging may compromise diplomatic initiatives. The Emperor's New Clothes was written for just such a time.
National Themes and Tensions
Media and Public Perception: Expect national media to intensify its exaggeration and distortion of events, creating an illusion of either security or urgency. Public discourse will be emotionally charged, often at the expense of pragmatic realism. The truth will be extremely hard to discern as every side of the issue will be either blown out of proportion (making mountains of molehills), OR disregarding/downplaying extremely serious threats.
Judicial and Religious Dynamics: Higher education, religious institutions, and philosophical frameworks will be stress tested, forced to prove their relevance or risk obsolescence; (DEI ideologies, forced Vax scenarios overturned).
Transportation and Infrastructure: Ambitious projects may falter due to mismanagement, overpromising, and logistical failures. Existing infrastructure will suffer catastrophic failures. Either "naturally" (due to age/ware), or induced (grid-down or cell service down due to hacking).
Foreign Relations: Domestic narratives will conflict harshly with global diplomatic efforts, eroding international credibility. OR, global initiatives will be seen as biased, propagandized, or worse (US position vis-a-via the WHO).
The Karmic Opportunity
Rahu’s contribution to this building stellium in Pisces demands that illusion be distinguished from reality. This is a karmic moment for the U.S.—an opportunity to shift its relationship with truth in communication. Look for once trusted, major news organizations to fold or be auctioned off piecemeal. And a lowered tolerance for political double-speak.
The evolutionary potential of this opposition lies in integrating Pisces’ imaginative and creative qualities with Virgo’s analytical clarity. If successful, the nation can rise to meet this moment with the wisdom of hard-learned lessons, rather than swim in delusion and deception. The challenge is bridging the gap between its idealized narratives and the practical realities it must navigate at home and abroad.
As the planets align, they cast America’s image upon a cosmic mirror, reflecting both its dreams and its delusions. The question remains: Will the nation recognize its reflection and step forward into a future rooted in truth and integrity? Or will it remain ensnared in the seductive haze of its own making?
And on the personal front, will you choose Truth at all cost? Or the false safety of delusion?
The stars are watching.
